Briefly- October Sun, Movement Movie Night, etc.

October Sun
Friday was my last day of work. I have to admit it was very sad. In addition to the safety and security of a good job, my work was part of my identity... But it's all part of the plan. Tomorrow I'm leaving for the first leg of travel, one month of climbing and exploring the American West.

October Sun road trip

The first stop is Zion with Andrew to put up a couple first ascents here. This is new territory for us, wish us luck!

Movement Movie Night
If you're in Boulder this weekend, check out Movement's free movie night on Saturday.

It features a couple episodes from Sender Films new series, First Ascents.

I had a chance to talk to Sarah Marvez, the Project Architect for Movement, about the building systems used at Movement. She told me the main climbing area is cooled using indirect evaporative cooling, and the offices are conditioned with heat pumps (this is probably only interesting to me). The climbing area felt hot, I would guess this is due to the evap coolers and all the sky lights, time will tell if it's a problem.

Marvez noted the PV solar panels are producing more electricity than the building is using. Additionally, she noted the agreement with the PV provider is that Movement doesn't own the panels, and buys the power from the PV provider. This is interesting considering initial cost is the barrier to entry for many owners, and the owners didn't have that barrier due to the agreement.

24 Hour Horseshoe Hell Photos
Lucas Marshall recently posted photos from this year's 24 Hour Horseshoe Hell climbing comp.

Vertical Times
The Access Fund's fall issue of Vertical Times is available.

Montbell Sale
I went to the Boulder Montbell retail shop for the first time yesterday. It's a full fledged outdoor shop with a bunch of gear in addition to the Montbell stuff. They have some Wild Country cams on sale for 20-30%, and a few other good deals.
