An Evening at Flagstaff and Tyler to Tahoe

The entire day in the office on Monday I could see a cloudless blue sky laughing at me through the window. So as soon as work was over Ryan and I grabbed a crashpad, our climbing shoes and a few beers and headed bouldering at Flagstaff.

Ryan climbing West Arete, a V3 on the Little Flatiron.
The First Flatiron can be seen in the distance.

It was a great day, nice enough to take your shirt off and cool enough that the rock wasn't too slippery. Surprisingly, we had a little area of three fine boulders all to ourselves.

Me attempting (and failing) Conquerer Traverse on the King Conquerer boulder.

But I was able to get Face Out, a thin V5 up the right side of the rock.

We finished by bouldering both lines on Shark's Rock.

In more important news, Tyler Scheer who is rumored to have been my brother for the last 26 years is off tomorrow to be a beach guard at Lake Tahoe in Nevada. When he returns he will look like this:

We're all wishing you the best, Tyler and we'll miss you.

  1. Funny. Yeah, we'll miss Tyler for the summer.

Glad you got Face Out, Tyler showed me that problem last time up there... I decided to "feel out" the first move and ended up flashing the problem- good times.

  2. Tyler already looks like that ... just younger and less hairy. The only word that comes to mind in describing him is "turgid."
